Sorry I have been so absent for the last few weeks. I promise more to come this week. This weekend’s trip to Gore Mountain was a waste of a perfectly good Sat. Snow was not snow but sheets of ice. Grooming was a joke. Oh well. Bring on Jiminy Peak Monday night. Tracking a huge storm … More to come tomorrow.
.. WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 PM EST MONDAY…
A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 PM EST MONDAY.
TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 5 TO 10 INCHES IS EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHERN VERMONT… WITH 6 TO 12 INCHES IN THE BERKSHIRES… DUTCHESS COUNTY AND NORTHERN LITCHFIELD COUNTY… AND 8 TO 14 INCHES IN SOUTHERN LITCHFIELD COUNTY.
SNOW WILL OVERSPREAD THE WARNING AREA FROM SOUTH TO NORTH LATE THIS EVENING… AND BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES OVERNIGHT INTO EARLY MONDAY MORNING. SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH MUCH OF THE DAY ON MONDAY… BEFORE TAPERING OFF TO SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS BY LATE MONDAY EVENING. WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15 TO 25 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS OVERNIGHT AND CONTINUE MONDAY… CAUSING BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW AND REDUCING VISIBILITY.
THE SNOW WILL RESULT FROM A MAJOR COASTAL STORM THAT WILL STRENGTHEN ALONG THE NORTH CAROLINA COAST THIS EVENING… AND LIFT NORTHEAST OFF THE MID ATLANTIC COAST OVERNIGHT. THIS STORM WILL CONTINUE TO TRACK NORTHEAST AND PASS NEAR CAPE COD MONDAY AFTERNOON. THE STORM WILL EXIT INTO THE CANADIAN MARITIMES MONDAY NIGHT.
A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW… ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.
Peace.

Ok…so it’s not Upstate New York but it’s still a sick deal worth tell you about.
Stowe Mountain Resort and Transworld Snowboarding Magazine have teamed up to offer one sick deal. A 3 day lift ticket for $99. You need to buy a copy of Feb 2009 Transworld to have the coupon. It’s on page 48 in the Variables section. It’s not valid Feb 17-19 and March 14-22. One ad per person. Present the page to Stowe’s Mansfield Guest Services for the deal. It’s freaken ridiculious. Stowe this week is getting a good 12 inches plus of snow so buy Feb 09 Transworld, take off Friday, and ride for 3 days for 99 bucks. Remember each person getting the ticket needs a copy of the Mag.
Now that’s a great stimulus package! You only have a few days left till the March issue is put on shelves so get your copy now otherwise you will have to get a copy on Ebay for 40 bucks from some dude in Jersey. Ouch! Don’t wait!!!!!!
Peace.

Breaking news!!!! Whiteface’s new Wilmington trail to open Thursday 12-8-09 at 1pm. It’s part of Whiteface’s new terrain Lookout Mountain. The trail is a blue intermediate trail that’s 2.5 miles. Yes 2.5 miles of new terrain and it’s easy to get to unlike Gore’s Burnt Ridge. Yes I know there is a “wormhole” to get to Burnt Ridge from Twister but what happens when Twister is closed for racing which it often is. Yep you hike a ridiculous amount… Back to Whiteface.
To get to the Wilmington trail take the Face Lift triple to Easy Way (Green trail all the way to the left when facing down the mountain. Yep you are at the Lookout Mountain Triple. Ride up and enjoy the new trail. Visual aids below. Step 1 – cut a hole in the box . . . LOL.
Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Considering Whiteface is getting a dump of snow till Friday evening. My mountain pick for the weekend is Whiteface. Gore and Jiminy Peak maybe a little dicey based on the sleet and rain I am seeing currently. More on this weeks winter storm…

A skier caught on Vail’s lift ended up exposing himself. On the flipside, at least
he was saved…saved from the embarrassment of exposing his winter shrinkage.
Imagining being the guys who have to save him. Talk about a shitty job.
“Brum Crash” (drum sound). Someone stop me.
Thank you, I will be here all night.
You can read more here.

SUPERFEET REDhot Insoles for Snowboard Boots Rock!
Every snowboard boot fits differently since they are mass produced. I currently rock the Burton Ion 08-09 boots. I was having foot pain with the Burton ion boots and SUPERFEET to the rescue. Sure, I was skeptical at first, how can a store bought insole solve my foot pain. I slipped out the foam insole that Burton provided and in went the SUPERFEET. After 1 long run with the new insoles, I was sold. They took away all foot pain and allowed me to ride the rest of the day in comfort. God bless SUPERFEET! They have a 60 day money back guarantee so give them a shot. I got mine at EMS in Wilton, NY.
